Christian G. Krueger – Chief Executive Officer:
Mr. Krueger has 20+ years experience managing varied and complex business, intellectual property and research matters in public and private sector. Prior to co-founding CPS, he served as the Director of Operations for the Reed Research Group’s Basic and Translational Research Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In this capacity he was responsible for contract negotiations, fund raising (Federal, State and Private Industry), budgetary oversight and regulatory compliance. Additional start-up business experience includes co-founding (Managing Director) Synesis, LLC, a company that develops and commercializes functional and healthful products by leveraging intellectual property rights and technical expertise related to phytochemistry. Mr. Krueger is one of the pioneers in development of Polyphenol-Fingerprinting™ (MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry) to characterize the structural heterogeneity of proanthocyanidins, pigmented-proanthocyanidins and oligomeric hydrolyzable tannins in fruits, beverages and nutritional supplements.
Amy B. Howell – Chief Marketing Officer:
Dr. Howell has worked closely for 20+ years with PR and marketing agencies that represent the Cranberry Institute, Cranberry Marketing Committee (CMC), Ocean Spray, POM Wonderful, US Highbush Blueberry Council, NutraIngredients, and many others in the dietary supplement industry. Her research has been featured worldwide in many magazines and newspapers (NY Times, etc.) and she has been a guest on radio and television shows (NPR, Dr. Oz, Today Show, Good Morning America, etc.) promoting her work on the health benefits of cranberries and blueberries.
Dr. Howell routinely travels internationally as the scientific health expert for the Cranberry Marketing Committee to open up markets in countries such as Russia, China, and Brazil and increase demand for cranberries by highlighting their health benefits to the trade, consumers, and healthcare professionals via ad hoc media and consumer interviews. She is a scientific expert and media liaison for the International Food Information Council on Food Safety and Nutrition, and a member of the Media Speakers Bureau for the Cranberry Marketing Committee. She serves as an Executive Board Member for Groupe Polyphenol in France, and as the Public Board Member on the US Highbush Blueberry Council, and You-Tea, Inc.
Jess D. Reed – Chief Scientific Officer:
Dr. Reed has 36 years of experience in establishing laboratories for phytochemical and nutritional analysis. His first experience in developing an analytical laboratory was from 1983 to 1989 at the International Livestock Center for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Under his direction the lab grew to 15 technicians and serviced nutrition research projects in collaboration with national agricultural research programs in 6 African countries. These projects were funded by grants he obtained through proposals submitted to development agencies in Europe and the United States. Throughout his career, Dr. Reed has consulted in the establishment of analytical techniques in laboratories at public and private research laboratories in 35 countries. Dr. Reed is also involved in the commercialization and patenting of analytical technology and intellectual property related to food and animal feed components.
Andrew Birmingham – Director Analytic Service
Mr. Birmingham is a 2015 graduate of UW-Madison Master of Science in Biotechnology program; a curriculum that applies the concepts of business and IP law as they relate to the biotechnological sciences. Mr. Birmingham’s specific areas of expertise include intellectual property, patents, technology licensing, regulations and ethics, program management, and operations. In addition to his education and before joining CPS, Mr. Birmingham contributes over 4 years of experience as an analyst in metabolic pharmaceutical and nutritional profiling in a heavily regulated Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) environment.
